Want to help create a vibrant slate of social
activities for Orchard Ridge neighbors? We all
have a lot on our plates, so Tim is seeking just
small pieces of help – not trying to put together a
large event that would encompass the whole
neighborhood all at once. We need:
• Any and all ideas for social activities that will
bring small or large groups of neighbors
together: ball games, concerts, bike trips,
Vitense golf league, canoe/boat trips on
rivers/lakes, picnics, coffees….. The list of
activities is only limited to what you are
interested in.
• Suggestions on organizing these activities:
How to start, how many people to expect, how
best to get the word out, etc.
• People who might organize such an activity
for themselves who’d like to help our
committee do it on a larger scale for several
neighbors.
• From Joan Horinek of Stemp Terrace, we
already have a great template for hosting a
picnic, coffee or other gathering of your
immediate neighbors. She and Ernie have been
hosting such a picnic annually for the last 40
years and have found it a great way to meet new
neighbors and stay in touch with older ones. Her
picnic plan is simple, economical, and involves
virtually no stress on the hosts. If you’d like to
see the template, drop contact Tim for a copy.
(Of course, you don’t need to be on the social
committee to have one of these gatherings. But
please let us know if you do so we can spot trends
in different sections of Orchard Ridge.)
